The photo of this post is an alternative version of the photo I used in the post “Reflections on a table“. Using the advise of Chuck I applied a gradient for the foreground of the photo, but the bright reflection still kept drawing too much attention to my taste. My solution was to crop the photo and also use a gradient. I think this is a better version of the photograph. As another alternative I post a different exposure of the same scene.

Maarten, I like the first image better and darkening the bottom improves a bit though I think you could go way more on the lower 20% of the frame. Keep playing with it -;))
Your alternate also has great potential … but here I’d knock down the center somewhat. I really like the snowflake like reflection at the bottom … and the bright red lens flare. Great raw material to work with!
I see what you mean. I’ll keep working on these. I like the first one a bit better because you can see what you are looking at (although that is not always something which really bothers me
).
Yes, I seem to remember a certain delight you have when photographing something slightly obscure.
A new President. Yes. And, ok, I suppose you can take exception to the USA flag, but only when viewing it from within your Dutch homeland -:)
Beautiful images, love the golden tones. Prefer the first image with the selective focus in the middle layer. Excellent processing and compositions.
