There was an opening of a photo exhibition in the forest. The people have left and a lonely tent is still there.

Another panorama of an Amsterdam canal, the Looiersgracht. I was just wandering around waiting for my car. They were changing the winter tyres to the summer versions.

Slowly spring is arriving in the Netherlands. There have been a couple of good days in a row now. Still quite chilly and foggy in the morning, but the afternoons are bright and comfortable.

This afternoon I sat outside a bookstore on the Spui square in Amsterdam. It was quit cold but the sun kept me warm. Many people of many kinds walked by. I really enjoyed just watching.

Amsterdam thanks its Canadians” is a monument in Amsterdam on the Apollolaan. It stands along the route the Canadians took when the liberated Amsterdam in the spring of 1945 at the end of the second world war. As a boy I often passed it on my way to school. I did not like it because of the material used. I like it better now, but the rusty steel does not relate to a liberated feeling for me.

I really enjoy making these panoramas. I should have been a little more precise. I had to cut of some nice parts of the panorama because some essential part were missing.

This afternoon I was in the center of Amsterdam. The canals and the 17th century houses looked wonderful in the low winter light. The canals beg for panorama shots. There is so much to see and there are so many corners and angles. Here’s an example.

The photo of this post is an alternative version of the photo I used in the post “Reflections on a table“. Using the advise of Chuck I applied a gradient for the foreground of the photo, but the bright reflection still kept drawing too much attention to my taste. My solution was to crop the photo and also use a gradient. I think this is a better version of the photograph. As another alternative I post a different exposure of the same scene.
